DescriptionIn 1948 Sudek was given a Kodak Panoram camera. Marketed to wealthy tourists and rarely used by artists, the Panoram was first introduced in 1899 and then discontinued in 1928. By the time Sudek received the camera, its specialized film was no longer in production. Undeterred, Sudek would cut 4 x 12 inch strips from large sheets of film, loading and unloading the strips one at a time. In spite of this complicated process, Sudek frequently photographed with the camera, creating immersive, atmospheric panorama views of Prague and the surrounding countryside.
