Inscribed in pencil, verso of sheet, upper center: "WWII Photographers 8 US 4870 TUN"

Typed on label, pasted to verso of sheet: "CAPA / ROAD TO TUNIS / With the city of Tunis in Allied hands, the civilian population / of North Africa came out of their mountain hiding places and / joined the hosts of British and American troops headed for the Tunisian capital. Past the now tranquil Hill 609, whose bloody / capture opened the way to Mateur, Bizerte and victory, over hot / dusty roads baking under Africa's intense sun, a ceaseless, motley / parade of tanks, trucks, horse and donkey carts piled high with / returning refugees and their household goods, cyclists and even / pedestrians wound its way across Tunisia. At camps en route sold- / iers doffed battle-grimy uniforms and enjoyed their first showers / in weeks, civilians bound for their native villages exchanged gay / greetings with Yanks and Tommies, and everywhere was evidence that the Allied victory signaled a return to the old, peaceful life of pre-war days."

Typed on a second label, pasted to verso of sheet: "14. War photographer Robert Capa whose hands were accidentally / injured while he was on duty with troops bound for Tunis."
