Visionario a su manera, Xul Solar produjo obras que
representan su búsqueda de conocimiento místico. Combinó tendencias
vanguardistas —abstracción, geometría y collages incorporando fragmentos
lingüísticos— con símbolos y creencias de varias religiones y sistemas cosmológicos.
Jefa ilustra una figura central casi felina con camadas simbólicas de fuentes ocultistas
y prehispánicas. Tal interés en imágenes ancestrales llevó a Xul a la creación
del panlingua, lenguaje tipo Esperanto que combina matemáticas, música,
astrología y artes plásticas.
