Description

Chester County’s close proximity to Philadelphia is manifested in its decorative arts, in this instance the flattened ball and columnar-shaped turnings. This stand exemplifies a distinct regional character, most notably in the configuration of the box, or birdcage, as the Chester County craftsman developed a circular device that is more cohesive to the overall design than the square Philadelphia box.
