DescriptionFor nearly 50 years, Louis Faurer photographed life on the streets of New York, Philadelphia, and other major cities, creating images of daily life with clarity, tenderness, wit, and empathy. Almost always, he shot in black-and-white with a handheld 35mm camera, but at times he carried a second camera loaded with color film to take advantage of opportunities such as this dynamic arrangement of illuminated signs. Faurer could not afford to print his color negatives, so this aspect of his work came to light posthumously.
