Description

In most instances American pewterers’ work parallels the designs and techniques employed by British craftsmen, yet on occasion Continental influences are perceptible. The tab-handle porringer is an excellent example; unknown in England, it is a product of Pennsylvania's immigrant German culture. The simple design and unusual construction of casting basin and handle as a single unit are unique in American pewter.

Technical notes: The handle and bowl are cast in a single two-part mold.
