[1] The auctioneer of the 1929 sale was Maître Alphonse Bellier.
[2] The auctioneer was Maître Georges Blache. One of two acquisitions, including Vuillard’s “Femme écrivant,” a pastel (lot 15, illus.), that the Becks purchased at this sale. Both works were shipped on 28 May 1964 from Paris to Houston. [See MFAH object file-accessed by Robert McD. Parker, April 2024.] The Becks later sold the Vuillard.
