Description

The body of this example is somewhat more creamy in color than other examples made by the Tucker factory. However, it is decorated with the Spider pattern that seems to be unique to Tucker ornament.  Thomas Tucker’s list for the cost of making products includes references that may refer to this form: “shell dish which cost 10 cents each to produce; square comport which cost 8 cents; Salad-octagon which cost 20 cents.”

Related Examples: Winterthur (acc. no. 57.9–43).
