DescriptionHooked rugs, typically made by women in the home, employed loops of yarn or fabric strips pulled from the underside of the ground fabric with an implement similar to a crochet hook to create the pile.  Some patterns were commercial products, but many were created by the rug maker.  This semi-circular example was probably intended for use in front of a fireplace or doorway.
