Description

This piece and B.62.27 represent brown-glazed pottery models of the celery vase form (commonly called tulip vases) that became very popular at mid-century. The faceted body and scalloped top echo closely pressed glass models, which in turn emulate cut glass examples (see B.91.55).

Related examples: Barret 1958, p. 146, pi. 213; Spargo 1969, pl. XXV For pressed glass examples, see Palmer 1993, p. 276, no. 250; Spillman 1981, p. 219, no. 843f.
