This region in southeastern Germany is noted for its ceramic production. In 1760, fifty years after the creation of porcelain at Meissen, it became feasible to produce hard-paste porcelain in Thuringia. This teacup and saucer, featuring a portrait of John Adams, is part of a set depicting American presidents.
