Description

Emmet Gowin has drawn
inspiration from the people and environment of his hometown of Danville,
Virginia throughout his career. The children shown here are Nancy and Dwayne
Wells, brother and sister, and nephew and niece to Gowin. The odd dichotomy of
innocence and provocation in this picture can be perceived as sexually
suggestive or as an image of family intimacy.
