Object Type
Aaron Siskind produced a
series of photographs subtitled Homage to
Franz Kline, which encompassed six groups of pictures identified by the
time and place they were made. Although none of the photographs in the series
relates to a specific Kline painting, they all contain images suggestive of a
dragging brush or a direct concern with a broad stroke or gesture. In Jalapa 7, the marks form an energetic
cadence of abstract forms, which relates to what Siskind referred to as an
“unself-conscious mark.”
