DescriptionEnglish potters T. J. and J Mayer noted that they were participants in the Exhibition of the Industries of All Nations in 1853–54. This tureen, featuring an American eagle clutching a shield, arrows, and an olive branch on its cover, was clearly designed with American customers in mind.
Provenance[James M. Labaugh Antiques, White Plains, New York], a dealer exhibiting at The Theta Charity Antiques Show, Houston; purchased by MFAH, 1994.
