Berenice Abbott, a photographer best known for modernist street photography, also made scientific work for a different audience. In the late 1950s she was hired by the Physical Sciences Study Committee at MIT to create photographs for a new high-school physics textbook, illustrating principles of physical science such as mechanics, magnetism, electricity, and waves.
