  • Mission: Apollo-Saturn 16, April 16–27, 1972
  • This was the second of three missions to use the lunar rover on the Moon’s surface. Crew members John W. Young and Charles M. Duke, Jr., also took an ultraviolet camera to the surface to photograph the Earth and the solar system unencumbered by the “masking” effect of the Earth’s atmosphere. This photograph shows a snapshot of the Duke family left on the lunar surface by Charles Duke.
