DescriptionWeathervanes, eye-catching emblems perched high atop public and private buildings, were the products of specialist colonial artisans during the 1700s. By the second half of the 1800s, commercial production of weathervanes increased significantly with a wide variety of subjects available. Here, a horse and sulky express speedy movement and the rush of the wind.
