Exhibition HistoryThe photography collection at MFAh embraces the medium in all of its forms and uses. One of a handful of museum collections to look beyond the strict cannon or the definition of "art photography," MFAH attracts gifts from those seeking to place work in a broader and more inclusive context.
This group of works, a gift of Catherine Edelman, reflects a broad scope of what the medium of photography encompasses. The hand-painted collages of Holly Roberts, the classic documents of O. Winston Link, the artistic musings of James Fee, the editorial photographs of Annie Leibovitz, and the cultural celebrations of Jess Dugan demonstrate the dynamic possibilities of the photograph.
