Kaima Marie Akarue combines family photographs and snapshots, interiors sourced from magazines, and architectural details to construct her artwork. The result is a dynamic, collaged world representative of the artist’s memory and wishes. And the beat goes on… depicts a dizzying yet cozy interior. Patterned tiles, carefully chosen accessories, and soft fabrics combine to create a homey, loving living space that draws the viewer into its center, where Akarue’s Nigerian father listens to one of his prized vinyl records.
