Emailed Kiss Goodnight

Tabitha Soren photographs the images on her iPad, often including the fingerprints and smudges on the screen’s surface as evidence of interaction with the digital photograph. This work is the most personal of her series. The image shows the artist’s daughter Dixie, who circumvented family rules of always kissing one another goodnight, instead texting her mother this goodnight kiss. While on that night, the image was cause for a strict talk between mother and daughter, today it holds a different meaning. Dixie died in a car accident, and this image of her goodnight kiss is now what Soren gently touches each night before bed.
