DescriptionTemple pendants would have formed part of an array of elaborate headdresses and facial ornaments that were a distinctive
feature of Turkmen jewelry. The pendant would have been worn as one of a pair hanging down either side of the head and attached to a hat or headdress by chains. Fire-gilding enhances the vegetal and geometricized scrolls of the silver panels. The embossed pendants are in the shape of fish; other popular forms included leaves and beetles.
