Description

Through carefully rendered silver prints, repetition, and collage, the artist Dionne Lee created Lapse, a provoking and beautiful work that poses important questions about memory and time. Lapse features 200 individual photographs tiled together to document one, extended blink. This emphasis on the body and seeing underscores Lee’s broader interests in personal history and inheritance. She notes, “Through the camera, a tool that affirms the experience of witnessing, I engage with how the body holds and carves through its memories, such as the resilience of generations to thrive despite systematic barriers and harm inflicted on them.”
