Description

Elvis Presley
died at the age of 42 in 1977, yet he maintains an enduring appeal across
generations, classes, and geography. To this day, men, young and old, are
dedicated to paying tribute to Elvis, mimicking his signature looks and moves.
Over the course of three years, Daniel Gonçalves visited Memphis, Tennessee, to
photograph an international roster of “Tribute Artists” by the dim light of
Elvis’s favorite booth at Dad’s Place where they perform. As one fan succinctly
put it: “If you’re an Elvis fan, no explanation is necessary. If you’re not an
Elvis fan, no explanation is possible.”
