On May 25, 2020, Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin arrested and murdered George Floyd in broad daylight. Floyd’s death ignited outrage as a video filmed by 17-year-old Darnella Frazier swept across the Internet. Demonstrations against police violence erupted around the world. Protests were overwhelmingly peaceful, but some, particularly in Minneapolis, were punctuated by individual acts of destruction and engulfed in a fog of police tear gas. The Houston-based photo-journalist Go Nakamura photographed the days of unrest in Minneapolis.
