Description

As a youth, Glenda León pursued ballet with passion and discipline, and that inclination toward performance remained in later years as she studied art history and developed as a multidisciplinary visual artist. During a residency in Perth, Australia, León’s varied interests came together as a performative intervention in the landscape as she planted a field of delicate, colorful flowers. Her flowers, however, were made of bows from women’s underwear, together forming a private garden, an “inner” garden, a truly feminine garden. It was, as well, an ephemeral garden, “a created landscape, an object,” she said, “and I took its picture.”
