Few people had encountered the work of Bruce Wrighton when he died at the age of 38 in 1988. His documentary photographs of his hometown of Binghamton, New York, surfaced slowly in the following years, providing an intimate look at the small city during the economically depressed years of the late 1980s. Wrighton took all of his pictures with an 8x10 camera, a laborious tool that took 15 minutes to set up but resulted in crisp and detailed images that honor everyday moments and places.
