Exhibition HistoryThe addition of Rinaldo and Armida to the collection will enhance the Museum’s growing collection of the work of Benjamin West. It will be the second work in the collection by the artist based on a literary source, along with his The Pilgrim Mourning His Dead Ass (fig. 5). In concert with the other preparatory and finished works in the collection, it will illustrate the artistic process and studio practices of the artist and teacher.
