DescriptionThe first photo booths were installed at Photomaton Studio, at Broadway and 51st Street in New York, in September 1925. Approximately 7,500 people a day patronized the booths, resulting in 280,000 customers in the first six months. Soon, photo booths became ubiquitous, found at corner shops and around the world. With the curtain drawn, the booth became a private space for sitters to act out humor, lust, or elegance.
