Nicolas Party’s vivid depictions of nature are immediately seductive, shimmering with color and seemingly radiating light. However, Landscape also evokes the extreme heat of severe drought as a red solar disc hovers over trees that glow like lanterns. “How many trees are being painted today? And how many trees are burning?” Party asks. “They are one of the most important elements in human culture. Today, they are also one of the primary reminders of our fears and anxieties for the future.”
