DescriptionSelf-portraiture has long been considered a unique expression of singular character. Yet, this definition is shifting in the age of the selfie as certain types of self-portraits become ubiquitous. #flex, 1 sec is a composite of more than 1,100 selfies of people flexing, sourced from the Internet in just one second. This repetition underscores the recognizable and universal pose that selfie-takers imitate, yet Zampini’s arrangement allows each individual image to retain some semblance of individual identity.
