Description

Created by two Middlebury College students in
2005, quidditch is a synthesis of rugby, dodgeball, wrestling, and flag
football, inspired by the fictional game from J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. Like the sport
itself, Will Michel’s intimate and confrontational portrait is somewhat
atypical, focusing not on the sport’s action, but the aftermath of an injury.
As injuries are common in the game, the rising popularity of quidditch has
converged with discussions regarding player safety in other mainstream contact
sports such as football, rugby, and soccer.
