DescriptionSilversmith Jonathan Otis worked in Newport, Rhode Island, and Middletown, Connecticut. Craftsmen made sleeve buttons in a variety of materials, including silver, enamel, and gold. Octagonal buttons like this pair were popular during the middle years of the 1700s.
