DescriptionThe Agricultural Mechanical and Blood Stock Association held state fairs in Houston during the 1870s.  This award from the fair went to Mrs. A. M. Parrish for the “Best Made Shirt.”  The Galveston Daily News of May 29, 1877 made note of Mrs. Parrish’s award, and gave a detailed description of the medal.  Mrs. Parrish was at that time listed in city directories as a shirt maker.
