[3] Mazaraki was a wealthy Greek collector who lived in Paris and was an important patron of the School of Paris. It seems that he first became active in the art market when he served as an organizer of the Greek pavilion at the “International Exposition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Art” held in Paris in the summer of 1925. “On Inauguré: à l’Exposition des arts décoratifs,” Le Matin (16 June 1925): 3; Digitized at https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/bpt6k5750952/f3.image.r=%22Nico%20Mazaraki%22?rk=85837;2 (Accessed by Julia May Boddewyn, 10 November 2024).

[4] Richard Green Gallery opened in 1965.

[5] Galerie Hervé had branches in Paris and Montreal and was run by Hervé Odermatt. The 1967 Paris exhibition catalogue does not list an owner, suggesting the painting may have belonged to the gallery.

[6] No provenance is given in the catalogue. [The painting sold for 500,000 frs.]

[7] Invoice from Galerie Salis to Mrs. John A. Beck, dated 6 December 1989. [MFAH Object file, Confirmed by Julia May Boddewyn]
