DescriptionLuis Mallo’s series In Camera consists of urban landscapes, partially ones obstructed by foreground objects. Formal puzzles or near abstractions, the photographs evoke curiosity and play with visual pattern. While the everyday surfaces in Mallo’s foreground act like veils, separating and concealing the backgrounds, the gaps invite the viewer to peak through the holes, to glimpse the visual fragments of city streets and houses. Mallo’s carefully chosen views also present a sea of found patterns and geometries, creating contrasting layers of horizontal and diagonal lines, each further adding to the visual puzzle captured by the artist.
