DescriptionEarly in his career, Dawoud Bey developed a distinctive style of “street portraits” that are both collaborative and documentary. Focusing on communities—whether geographic in nature, like his Harlem U.S.A., or social, like his Class Pictures featuring teenagers—portraits like this, from a group of ten offered by the Parsleys in Anne Tucker’s honor, are sensitive reflections on social circumstances.
