DescriptionThis Chinese export porcelain plate has strong associations with Thomas Jefferson, who probably used tableware in this pattern at the President’s house, though he did not own it personally, nor have researchers found evidence that it was used at Monticello. Jefferson descendants sought to acquire the porcelain after he left the presidency, and officials sold government-owned property associated with Jefferson’s administration, strengthening the connection.
