DescriptionRather than discarding this broken teapot, the owner chose to employ a tinsmith to repair so it could be useful again. The teapot’s missing ceramic handle was replaced with a handle composed of two pieces of tin. One piece encircles the rim and the other crimped strip makes the handle. A molded profile of George Washington is pictured on one side and an American eagle on the other side.
ProvenanceJas A. Gundry, Houston; given to MFAH, 2013.
