Thomas Bennett Odom was born in 1834 in Georgia and was in Upshur County, Texas, by 1875. Census records for 1880 note him as a potter in that county. He may have been associated with or a partner of Thomas Cranfield.
Handles on churns and jars were most often open strap handles, as here, or lug handles that conform more closely hug to the pot’s profile and are less vulnerable to damage.
