label from gallery on verso: " Great Silver Falls, 2008 / Encaustic on panel / Great Silver Falls evokes the motion of water / through the fluidity and the process of falling / wax. Hence, the painting describes its own / action as well as conjures the full-fledged power of a / river dropping from a cliff. It makes tangible what was / once perhaps a loose image lodged in memory, while / simultaneously carrying a more universal function / of inspiring a quiet moment of contemplation and / admiration for nature's life-giving force. Even though this exquisitly elegant painting suggests the movement / of water, it is frozen and still at the same time. The / reflective metallic quality of the paint interacts with / light to effectively animate the surface, bringing Great / Silver Falls to "life."
