DescriptionThe photographer Frank Yamrus and his companion—an old flame whom he had not seen in many years—lie peacefully in a close embrace as Yamrus faces his camera, eyes closed, and light spills onto his napping partner’s uncovered back. Yamrus began his series I Feel Lucky at the age of 47 in anticipation of a midlife crisis as he neared the age of 50. A meditation on aging and the richness of life, the title I Feel Lucky is also an acknowledgment of the large number of Yamrus’s friends who died of AIDS and never had the chance to grow old.
