The photographer Frank Yamrus and his companion—an old flame who he had not seen in many years—lie peacefully in a close embrace as Yamrus faces his camera. Yamrus began his series I Feel Lucky in anticipation of a midlife crisis as he neared the age of 50. A meditation on aging and the richness of life, the series is also an acknowledgment of the large number of the artist’s friends who died of AIDS and who never had the chance to grow old.
