DescriptionNaoya Hatakeyama has a longstanding interest in cities. This photograph was made through layering two distinct prints of the same image in a light box: a black-and-white photographic paper is shown in front, backed by a black-and-white transparency film. As the dark areas of the prints align, their combined density blocks the light shining from behind. But the light areas of the transparency transmit the light passing through, causing the photographic print to glow and providing the illusion of a building at night.
