Description

With its somewhat chunky and unusual proportions, this table presents an idiosyncratic interpretation of the center table form. A stenciled inscription on the underside of the top suggests its origin in Flatonia, a small town in central Texas.

Adapted from Lonn Taylor and David B. Warren. Texas Furniture: The Cabinetmakers and Their Work, 1840–1880. Vol. 1, rev. ed. Austin, Tex.: University of Texas Press, 2012.
