Co-founder of the Arte No-Figurativo (Non-Figurative Art)
(1953) group, Costigliolo, alongside María Freire, sought to explore hard-edged
forms and dynamic spaces. Composed of overlapping blue, white, and black
planes, this painting appears to unfold asymmetrically over an ochre
background. By manipulating size, direction, and color, Costigliolo generates a
structure that suggests perpetual movement. The enlarging and shrinking of
geometric shapes result in the composition tilting toward the viewer and receding
into the canvas.
