DescriptionPhotographers began experimenting with various digital technologies in the 1970s, including electrophotography made with photocopiers and laser printers. William Larson created this photograph using a Graphic Sciences DEX 1 Teleprinter, an early fax technology that converted images to an audio-based electronic code and then back to an image again. Larson ran the same print through the process multiple times, often interjecting other sounds to alter the transmission.
