BiographyPhotographer. Was a pupil, later staff in Moscow Photo studio of Carl Fischer. Member of the Russian Photographic Society [RFO] in Moscow (1896-1917, 1921-1929). Was an assistant of C. Fischer at the photo reporting of coronation of the Nicolas the II in Moscow in 1896. Was awarded at the Paris International Exhibition in 1900. Since 1900, S. was the most famous portrait and stage photographer among the theatre-circles in Moscow, worked with the most theaters and leading groups and individuals, also with MKhAT (Stanislavsky’s theater) etc. In 1915 he opened his own photo studio. In 1920s S. was a chairman of state photo studio (former his own, after its nationalization) with 10 workers and 4 staff. He was exhibited in Russia, also at the 1937 All-Soviet Photo Exhibition he presented a collection of theater photographs. Was awarded by Soviet state.
