SUSAN SMALL: A premier name on the British model house and ready-to-wear circuit, founded by Leslie Carr Jones in the late 1940s. This label’s specialty was fashionable evening and formal wear, though it also produced daywear and sportswear. Susan Small was popular throughout the 50s and 60s, and designed clothes for Jane & Jane in the late 60s. The Susan Small brand’s reputation died in the 1970s when the quality of output and their designs dropped dramatically, and the label quietly faded away in the 80s.
