Biographyhttp://www.redwingnet.com/Article/history.htmRed Wing Stoneware Company was formed by local investors in Red Wing, Minnesota in the late 1800's. After a robust beginning, market conditions and competition from both local and interstate rivals caused the formation of a new company in the early 1900's. Combining the local potteries into the Red Wing Union Stoneware Company improved marketing conditions. As the demand for stoneware diminished in the late 1930's the name was changed again, this time to Red Wing Potteries. It has been said that the failure to modernize production and sales methods along with foreign competition led to the ultimate demise of the company. The plant closed in 1967.
