Tarek Al-Ghoussein has exhibited extensively in Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. He has held solo exhibitions at Roy Miles Gallery, London; The Third Line, Dubai, U.A.E.; Galerie Brigitte Schenk, Cologne; Kalfayan Galleries, Athens; and Sharjah Art Museum, U.A.E. His first solo exhibition in the United States will be held at Taymour Grahne Gallery, New York, in September 2014, which will launch his second monograph, as well. His work has also been shown in numerous group exhibitions, including the 55th and 53rd Venice Biennales; Singapore Biennale; Sharjah Biennials 6 and 7, U.A.E.; Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, Korea; Kunstmuseum Bochum, Germany; and Aperture Gallery, New York. His work is in the collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Sharjah Art Foundation, U.A.E.; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Det Nationale Fotomuseum, Copenhagen; and Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha, Qatar.

Mr. Al-Ghoussein received his B.A. in photography from New York University and his M.A. from the University of New Mexico. As a Kuwaiti of Palestinian origin, his work deals in much of his work with how his identity is shaped in a context of inaccessibility and loss. His work explores the boundaries between landscape photography, self-portraiture, and performance art. He is currently a professor of visual art at New York University Abu Dhabi.
