Morgan Garwood, age 54, of New York City, died unexpectedly in North Carolina on December 30, 2010. His funeral service was held in New York City on Saturday, January 15, 2011. Services were conducted by The Reverend J. Donald Waring, Rector of Grace Episcopal Church in New York. Also offering prayers at the service was Rabbi Joseph Potasnik.
Morgan was born in Houston, Texas on July 24, 1956. He attended St. John's School in Houston, the Taft School in Connecticut, The University of Texas, and the Art Institute of San Francisco. He was preceded in death by his father, W. St. John Garwood, Jr. and his brother, Robert Garwood. He is survived by his wife, Laura Reiben, his mother, Jean Garwood, and his sister, Susan Garwood and her family. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.
Morgan was an artist who will be remembered for his creativity, his wonderful sense of humor, and his appreciation of the American Southwest. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family for his intellectual energy and curiosity.
